First track meet

With her first week of swimming and the day starting at 6am this morning, she was exhausted come race time at 7pm today but she put in a solid 8th (out of 36) in the 800 and then was spent for the 1600 and couldn't muster better than a 9th. Both, however, were the highest positions of her classmates so she was pleased about that. Now she has some benchmarks that she can work off of.

Kiersten's 12-hour days begin!

Today is the first of Kiersten's 12-hour days:

Swimming: 6:50-8:15
School: 9:00-4:00
Track: 4:00-5:00
Soccer: 5:30-6:45

She'll do this every Tuesday and Thursday until May... and she's excited about it!

While not every day will be a 12-hour day, she'll be plenty busy almost every day with swimming T,W,Th... track M,T,W,Th... Soccer T,Th... and of course school every day ;-)

Valentine's Day Run

Kees' school running club participated in the annual Valentine's Day Run along with a number of other schools. It's a great run for the kids because it's run through the univeristy on the hike and bike trail and is only two miles.

Invitational Dance

Kees got all spiffed up for Invitational Dance class tonight... handsome dude... and said he danced with the prettiest girl!

Summer skiing!

Here's a clip from 2005 in Switzerland where the kids went skiing for the first time on the Jungfraujoch (and here) near Interlaken, the same place I learned to ski in 1967!

Beach!

It was almost 80 degrees today, low humidity and almost no wind... a perfect day for the beach!

The kids built a little sandcastle with some cups from the car and it turned out pretty good!

Back in the pool!

After concentrating on cycling for the last couple of years and giving triathlon a rest, the kids are back to swimming and running (and cycling). Kiersten is on her school's cross country, track and swim teams, and Kees is on his school's running club. For the first time in a while we hit the local lap pool... but having been out of the pool for a while the kids outswam me!
