They're both in!!!

After five long weeks of training (sometimes two-a-days) and four meets, they both qualified for the state championships... the last stepping stone before the Junior Olympics!

This will make you want to throw!

So I'm captivated by this discus thing... something about it being an original ancient olympics sport maybe... anyway, enjoy!

Adventure Racing!

We had a blast... again... and got second... again!

I was wondering why I got extra wet on the dinghy obstacle and now that I see the pictures I have identified the culprit... SOMEone was dripping extra water on me (and not doing much paddling, by the way ;-) !

Home meet and regional championships!

Pre-throw warm-ups were delayed 40 minutes and the conditions were not good for PRs (heavy, damp air with a tail-wind) ... but that didn't stop him from having an awesome meet!

His final throw

And it was perfect... discus left side up and flying... again, no one was close and he PR'd by 6 feet!

First Place!

The throw.

His third and final throw was perfect... look at how it leaves his hand... and was almost four feet farther than last week!

It's hard to tell from these pictures because the zoom compresses the depth of field, but no one was close... one was over 6 feet short and the rest were almost twenty feet short of his throw!

And the awards... FIRST PLACE!

No running today!

Because her achilles started bothering her on Thursday and were still sore this morning her coach instructed her to not race or work out until Tuesday... very frustrating for her but better safe than sorry!

The kids enjoing a snow-cone break :-)

Victory!

The kids played a great game and won this one in overtime!

Here's a shot of Kees making a play at first and the kids coming off the field after their victory... they're still in it!

All-Star game 1

The game started out well, but the other team broke it loose in the fourth inning and we could never bring it back.

Kees had a pretty good game on the mound and at bat, but no one played to their potential today and it cost us. We have another chance tomorrow so we'll see how it goes!

The first meet...

After two weeks of practice Kees gets to try his throws at his very first meet.

During practice his form is perfect and he out throws all the other kids (to his surprise) by at least five feet!

His first throw is considerably shorter than his practice throws but puts him in the lead temporarily. After two rounds another boy throws farther than Kees.

His second throw goes the longest but he fouls out by throwing out of the sector.

His last throw is perfect...
